Chillagah-e-Shareef is located in Bihargarh, Morna, Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, India. This is where Shaykh Mohammad Khushhal Qaddas Allahu Sirrahu “QSA” (May Allah sanctify his secret) undertook about 17 years of chillah (spiritual retreat) to forsake the world and commit himself to Allah Subhanahu wa Ta’la. This is also the blessed land which now holds his maqam (shrine).

His spiritual guide (Murshid), Sultan ul-Awliya Hazrat Mohammad Hasan Shah QSA described the history of this blessed land and also foretold the future of the land.

About 3000 years ago, this land was a very dangerous jungle which was inhabited by uncivilized people. They survived by hunting animals and fish. Then about 100 years later, the land became green and ripe for agriculture. The people did farming in order to survive.

The circumstances of the land changed, and it became a jungle again. The jungle was inhabited by all types of animals except for elephants. There were dangerous dacoits (armed burglars) who lived on the land, and had no mercy for other people. These dacoits would attack the others who passed by and lived on this land. This was the situation for a long time.

About 800 years ago, a community of good people came and established themselves on this land, and their descendants lived on the land for many centuries. The situation was good, but this community later also began to be attacked by armed robbers and thieves.

About 500 years ago, a holy man (buzurg) arrived to support this community of innocent and oppressed people. He was a Muslim and many people accepted Islam at his hands. The attacks on the people became fewer, and the community became prosperous. However, the attacks from the thieves and robbers continued, and this man of Allah (wali) died during one of the attacks and became a martyr (shaheed).

After his death, the people slowly left the land to go to different areas and the land eventually became an uninhabited jungle again.

Hazrat Mohammad Hasan Shah QSA did not describe the next event, but it is well known that Shaykh Mohammad Khushhal QSA did the majority of his chillahs (spiritual retreat) on this land. It was later transformed and built into an amazing Khanquah (Ribat or Zawiya) in the early 2000’s by his disciples. The mureeds (disciples) of Shaykh Mohammad Khushhal QSA frequently visit Chillagah e Sharif for his spiritual blessings.

In regards to the future of Chillagah-e-Shareef, Hazrat Mohammad Hasan Shah QSA predicted that this land will be a great markaz (center) of knowledge (ilm). There will be a madrasa which will be so famous that even tourists will visit the land. The students from this madrasa will spread knowledge (ilm) all over the world, and will be in service of Islam.

Lastly, he said that this is only a matter of time. Sometimes things happen and sometimes other things happen. But the time of success is near and will start soon, InshaAllah (God willing) and Allah knows best.

O’Lord of all the worlds, give us true love for our shaykh,
for the sake of all the prophets, awliya and pious

Ishq de Murshid ka hum ko ya Ilahul Alameen,
Ambiya, Awliya, Asfiya ke wastey
