RESPECT FOR THE HOLY QU’RAN

Shaykh Mohammad Khushhal (Qaddas Allahu Sirrahu) (QSA) (May Allah sanctify his secret) was not only a Murshid (spiritual guide) of the highest degree, but he was also an Alim (Islamic scholar) of the highest degree.

As a student, he was known to beautifully recite the Holy Qur’an. His teachers would be amazed, and people would cry after hearing his recitation.

While he was learning the recitation of the Holy Qur'an in his village at an early age, his Qur'an teacher had spiritual insight (kashf) and foresaw that the Khawaja would reach the heights of spirituality. His Qur'an teacher said "My son, a time will come in your life, when you will achieve something great. Don't forget to pray for me." The Khawaja would later in his life, relate this event to his disciples (mureeds) with tears in his eyes. He never forgot his teacher as he always prayed for him, and sent rewards to his teacher's soul after his teacher passed ahead (Esal E Sawab).

As a Murshid (spiritual guide), he would often correct his disciples (mureeds) when there were mistakes in their recitation of the Holy Qur’an. He greatly disliked disrespecting the Qur’an or any book which contained verses of the Qur’an. He even respected alphabets because they constitute knowledge.

Although, the Khawaja was not a Hafiz-ul Qur’an, he was able to correct any reciter (Qari) because of his familiarity with the Holy Qur’an. This was because in his younger days, in addition to his mujahidas (spiritual struggles), one of his regular acts of worship were to begin the recitation of the Qur'an at Fajr (dawn) and finish the entire Qur'an by Isha (night).

The Khawaja was once walking with his disciples (mureeds) in Madina, Saudi Arabia when he noticed that a page of the Holy Qur’an was on the ground. He immediately picked up the page and kissed it. One of the local men suddenly came and rudely said in Arabic that this was a Bid’ah (innovation) and this should not be done. The Khawaja calmly told him in Arabic that this is what would have been done during the time of the Holy Prophet ‎ﷺ, and he should know that we are still in the time of the Prophet ﷺ. The local man was astonished by such an answer that he quickly left as he had no reply.

Sabr o Istiqlal Se Hamare Dil Ko Mazbooth Rakh,

Ya Ilahi Haath Se Choote Na Damaan E Khushhal

O’ my Lord, strengthen my heart with patience and perseverance,

And never let my hands slip from my connection to Khawaja Khushhal

Silsila - E - Aaliya Khushhaliya !!
